The Israeli Ethnic Ensemble

7:30 pm

Sandusky State Theatre, 107 Columbus Ave., Sandusky

The five members of the Ethnic Ensemble come from different cultural and ethnic backgrounds and truly reflect the varied musical styles of Israel. The music performed by the ensemble relies on Eastern European, Balkan and Gypsy traditions. Naturally, it combines materials from the countries of origin of the five musicians; the Sephardic traditional music, Mediterranean influences, the music of Yemenite Jews and some original music as well.

Israeli culture is the product of an immigrant society and brings together Balkan music alongside the sounds of Morocco, traditional Russian music side by side with Arabic and Middle Eastern traditional music and so on.

The Ensemble's unique performances represent the diverse and colorful cultural characters of Israeli music.

After all, where else is it possible to listen to an old Yemenite song accompanied by an accordion?

"It's Beginning to Look a lot Like Christmas"

Fri & Sat: 7:30 pm, Sun: 2:30 pm

Bellevue Society for the Arts, 205 Maple St., Bellevue

Based on Miracle of 34th Street, " the musical production includes a live version of Macy’s Day Parade and a large cast of all ages. The story unfolds as Kris Kringle takes on the cynics among us in this musical adaptation of the popular holiday favorite. In his inimitable style, Meredith Willson, the author of "The Music Man" and "The Unsinkable Molly Brown," tells us the classic story of the year. A white-bearded gentleman claiming to be the real Santa Claus brings about a genuine "Miracle on 34th Street," spreading a wave of love throughout New York City, fostering camaraderie between Macy's and Gimbel's Department Stores, and convincing a divorced, cynical single mother, her somber daughter and the entire state of New York that Santa Claus is no myth.
